learning by presenting academic skills in the context of real-life challenges
and projects.

academic demands. This organic approach is a natural
progression from the experiential learning model.
With these goals
in mind, Recipe 4 Success dispenses with traditional tutoring methods
like flashcards, drills, and busy work handouts. Instruction is hands-on
and child-centered and incorporates the higher thinking models necessary to
inspire gifted children. Recipe 4 Success’s in-home services are modeled on an à-la-carte
menu of activities. For example, a lower-elementary student who is a reluctant writer but a visual learner might design a travel brochure
documenting a character’s journey. A student who struggles with reading
comprehension and character might create a board game of their assigned novel,
incorporating genre, process writing, character analysis and narrative
conflict.
